In case you worry that the bed shaker won't work, it DOES really shake/buzz the whole (twin) bed in short annoying bursts. You can choose vibrate only, vibe & alarm buzzer, buzzer only. The alarm buzzer volume & tone can be adjusted a lot (all are quite annoying & guaranteed to get anyone out of bed, esp if your heavy sleeper is awakened first by the bed shaker). My daughter will not wake up with a regular alarm no matter how loud. Usually I have to go in & harass the poor child, then keep going back to wake her up again...& again. I work; I don't have time for that! This gets her AWAKE. The heart shape & color is very cute, & my 11 year old likes the rainbow color time display. So far, she doesn't hate it yet. ;-) Now I'm looking for one for boys!
I have a really hard time waking up to a conventional alarm clock, regardless of if I get my 8 hours of sleep. I have been late to work and classes due to sleeping through the alarm or turning it off in my sleep. With the sonic boom alarm clock, I don't even need the sound to wake up. The vibration wakes me up right away and the snooze button on the sweetheart version is a little tough to find in the half-asleep stage so I have to be awake to snooze it or turn it off. It is a bit lightweight but for me it serves its purpose. The vibration apparatus just plugs into the alarm clock (leaving the option of using it or not), and it has a pretty decent sized cord (well, maybe 3-4 ft). The beeping option is possible to be a range of different pitches and volumes to fit your needs, including very loud and high pitched. I highly recommend this product for people who have a hard time waking up to conventional alarm clocks.
I am hard of hearing and needed an alarm that would work for me. Not only is this the cutest alarm, it has been a Godsend. The pink color is very cool (my daughter wants one now lol) and the rainbow display is whimsical. The actual vibrating pad is very strong and there is no way you can not wake up, hearing impaired or not! You can choose to have the vibration alone, buzz alone or both together. It also has a high and low dimmer for the display. The cord for the vibrating pad is long enough to reach to the farthest side of the bed on a king sized bed. I love this item and highly recommend it. This is the best price anywhere that I have found including eBay.
I bought this for my sister, who could seemingly sleep through anything. It's very cute, which she loved about it. I wouldn't say that it is louder than a traditional alarm clock, but by changing the pitch higher it can be MUCH more annoying. She puts the bed shaker under her pillow and says that's enough to wake her up. This gets 5 stars for being the only thing that wakes her up in the morning (ok, 4 stars for that and 1 for cuteness).
I have a sleep disorder and this is the first alarm I've ever had that I always wake to! It vibrates (you put the white disc under your mattress and it shakes enough to rattle your teeth just a little) AND has a very loud alarm. You can choose one or both. The alarm has a volume control AND a pitch control, so if you tend to adjust to your alarm over time and stop hearing it you can make it a lower or higher note to fix that. Of course some people can reset an alarm in their sleep - but this one has the snooze button tucked inside the "V" on top of the heart shape and it's harder to just slap it in a daze to put it off. And the silly pink plastic heart with rainbow colored LED makes my bedside table a lot more amusing. Amazon's price was the best by far when I purchased.
First off... I don't recommend putting the bed shaker under your PILLOW...you will wake up with a giant Headache! (Trust me..I know...I kept it under my pillow for a few days until i realized that's why i had a horrible headache for 2 days in a row) I'd say, put it under your mattress, or under your sheet...somewhere else..except your head. I bought this alarm, and it annoys the hell out of me...which is a GOOD THING. I love it. I have a really hard time waking up, and i haven't been late to work since i bought it! The colors are really cool, and so are the flashing lights. It's cute and is way girly-er than my old black alarm clock. All of the tones you can put it on (I think there are 5 different ones) range from annoying......to annoying-er. The bed shaker really does work..and it really does shake. My dog hates this thing....and it wakes him up too! haha. I wish it would be a little louder. I have it on full blast, and i wish it were louder. I would recommend this alarm clock to anyone like me, who has a really hard time waking up in the morning!!
This thing will wake you up even if you won't wake up for a fire drill. The vibrater is great because of the long wire. The rainbow colored numbers will get your your friends wanting it too! It lights up the night. The light is kind of bright, so if you use a night light the alarm clock will probably be used as the night light. But if you're used to a dark room, your room is going to be a bit brighter than usual. But I'm personaly impressed with the alarm clock.
This Sonic Boom Sweetheart alarm clock is great! I usually sleep soundly and have a problem hearing the alarm. I have been searching for years for one that I can depend on to wake me up everyday. This is it! If the very very loud alarm doesn't wake you, the vibrator will...just put it under your mattress pad and it will wake you every time. The brightness of the numbers, the type of sound the alarm makes and the volume of the alarm can all be adjusted. Also, you can choose between alarm only, vibrator only or alarm/vibrator combination...it's up to you. And, of course, there's a snooze button that's easy to access.
This alarm is great, it's the only thing that has ever been able to wake me up in the morning.
I purchased this for my daughter going off to college. She has never been able to wake up to a "normal" alarm clock. She is an extremely heavy sleeper but the shaker and incredibly loud alarm always wake her up. I don't think she was ever late to class. She even had friends ordering them once they heard hers. She took it overseas with her, plugged it in and "fried" it due to the different wattage. I immediately purchased another one when she returned to the US. One of the best "off to college" purchases we made!
Yeah I just recieved my Sweetheart sonic boom alarm clock and it actually came 2 days early(yeah) and was right on time since I have to work midnights tonight(Yuck).

Anyway, I plugged it in and placed the bed vibrating thing between my matress and box spring and went to sleep. I awoke thinking either the house was falling down or someone literally was shaking me! Considering I live a lone and am a little bit of a scardy cat, I dont know If I want to wake up terrorfied! But the goal was accomplished I was awaken all adrenalin rushed and frazzled but I made it to work .....early.
The sweetheart clock look is cute but the plastic seems cheap but how much damage does an alarm clock need to take? The controls are small which is good that forces u to get up, turn on a light to turn it off. the display is bright but has a dimmer switch and it flashes when the alarm goes off. I have never owned an alarm clock that I actually used, since I am traditionally a light sleeper but now with my hectic lifestyle and the deep sleep deprived naps I take for rest I need something like this to wake up. I think they are a great price on amazon and they work and its cute. Doesnt get better then that does it!
I bought this alarm clock as a last ditch effort to try and find a way to wake up better in the morning. Incredibly, its working. I'm an adult with ADHD that does not respond well to alarms. I integrate them into my dreams (i've been on a host of games shows and caught in many fires in my day :) So, I bought this version b/c it was one of the only versions I could find that used vibration, sound, AND lights. I'm a huge fan. It's not a miracle; getting up is still a chore. But, I set this alarm (without the buzzer feauture) to go off a half an hour before I want to wake up, and then an audible alarm for when I want to wake up. I find that the vibration works WONDERS to help me actually become awake enough to respond to the audible alarm, as opposed to fighting mornings like a zombie. (seriously, the stories from my partners, family, friends, room mates, dorm mates, and one really angry neighbor in college would attest that this is in fact a miracle!) I've owned it a month and have moved from getting up a frantic 30 minutes before I have to be somewhere to an hour and 30 minutes before I need to be somewhere. In 31 years I have never successfully done this on a regular basis; so, I highly recommend.

The only criticisms I have are that the lights on the display are pretty bright and can sometimes be annoying when trying to fall asleep. There is a dimming feature, but they're still bright. But, I kinda love the campiness of this clock-- it has the color scheme of my "light bright" from the 80s. The clock is also a little larger than I anticipated (think about a 6-7 inch square-- that's how much room its going to take up on the night stand). But, all in all, TOTALLY worth it, and so much more interesting than those plain old white versions (which I'm pretty sure don't have the light feature to wake you).
First let me say I only write reviews if something is really worth the time or it is so horrible I'd hate to see anyone else waste their money.

This alarm clock is absolutely WONDERFUL.

My oldest daughter absolutely hates getting up in the morning, and trying to get her up is no picnic. We tried other alarm clocks, but they often shut off after a certain amount of time or weren't loud enough (read: she slept right through them). Not this one. We have it on a low volume and it is still loud enough to spring her out of bed and into the bathroom each morning. (My husband was outside one morning and could hear it going off; I have been all over the house and have heard it going off). It sounds a little like a fire siren.

Another nice feature is that it automatically resets itself for the next morning when you turn it off. No having to remember to set it each night. We have had this for several weeks now and it has really improved our mornings.

The cost seems a little high...but if you have a kid to get up in the morning who won't get up, this price is absolutely worth it.
i am convinced this is the best alarm clock. if you have a hard time waking up, do NOT hesitate to buy this. i call this my heart attack alarm because the noise is so terrifying i feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest every morning. i kept oversleeping with my iPhone alarm, but with this i actually wake up before the darn thing goes off because i am so petrified of hearing the brutal noise it makes. i don't use the vibrating attachment for logistical reasons (i keep this far from my bed), but it was still worth every penny. love love love. two thumbs up.
Without the vibration thing attached, I STILL sleep through this alarm... Quite frequently. It's really cute, but if you're buying it to wake a really deep sleeper then maybe we're both better off buying Screaming Meanies; I think that's what I'm going to end up doing, actually...
There ARE a lot of pluses with this alarm clock, though. The fact that you can change the alarm tone's pitch is pretty awesome, because I do better with higher pitched alarms. Most alarms today are pretty low pitched. And the vibrating thing helps to wake you up if the alarm alone doesn't cut it, but girls beware, your husband will pick on you about it.
Like the title of my review says, depends on how deep you sleep and personal preferences.
The sound this alarm clock makes is like an Atari video game, light flashes, and vibrating disk freaks out! It was a pretty bad-ass way to start the day. Then if broke. The disk goes off every time I set it. Just not a well made product.

I am sending it back to the manufacturer because it has been more than six months and amazon won't let me return. Sonic boom say they can repair or replace it...but I have to pay for this shipping to Missouri! x'p

Wish I listened to the bad reviews they where so true!
Bought this for my 12 year old daughter who never wakes up in the morning - it definitely works at waking her up but as with any alarm clock.....she keeps pushing the snooze button! The vibration sensor really works and the loud annoying alarm sound (which you can turn off and just have the vibration) does get you up. It is more of a novelty item but it is good quality and does what it says.
I can't believe I waited so long to purchase this alarm clock, but better late than never. It was money well spent! We just got the alarm clock and used it for the first time today. For the first time in 16 1/2 years, my daughter got up out of bed, when her alarm went off, all by herself. I didn't have to do ANYTHING. She said it wasn't scary when it went off, it just woke her up like no other alarm clock was ever able to do. She said "Mom, I felt like I was having a seizure." I know seizure's are no laughing matter, but you had to be in my kitchen this morning when she was demonstrating how the bed buzzer of the alarm clock woke her up. Hilarious! Buy it! You will be happy you did!

UPDATE - It's been four whole days and I haven't had to go into my daughter's room to wake her up once. So far it's working like a charm. And she actually likes this alarm. She wakes up with just the bed buzzer (you can set it to do lights and alarm + bed buzzer or bed buzzer alone). I really hope it doesn't break like some reviewers have said. If it does I'll let you know. I still think it's well worth the money though. Some of you I'm sure have some idea what it's like to try to wake up a heavy sleeper. It was making me resentful of my daughter, because, I thought, surely it could not be that difficult to wake up, especially when I'm at her bedside yelling at her to "Get up! Now!" I found myself going back into her room several times before she'd actually get up. That's a miserable way for both of us to start our day Monday-Friday. It was stressing both of us out. Now, she's up before I am and we start our day with a smile and a hug (no kidding).

UPDATE - 10 days. Haven't had to wake the kid up once! Loving it!
I cant remember ever telling all my friends about buying a clock.
This one is so much fun.
I am hearing impaired. Cant hear much w/o my hearing aids.
This is what you need if you are in this situation.

First of all , this is such a fun colorful clock. The numbers are in different colors. Yet it doesnt look childish ..just fun !
Its not bright pink. More of a rose color. It does glare out at you , as something cheap, like a kids clock would be.
Its a nice clock !

THE ALARM- you put the bedshaker under the mattress-- this wakes your body.
There's 6 tiny yellow flashing lights-- this wakes up your eyes
It sets off an alarm that for some reason I can hear..which is very unusual( as I cant hear most alarms right next to my head)
This one is about 2.5 feet.

The snooze button is in the "dip" part of the heart..so its easy to find in the dark..you just follow the top of the heart down to the center.
Totally impressed.

Theyve thought of everything for the hearing impaired

I ORDERED THIS IN JAN OF THIS YEAR.....Yep FOR MY SELF! I LOVE IT! IT'S MY FAVORITE COLOR AND I LIKE THAT THE NUMBERS ARE DIFFERENT COLORS! GOES "PERFECT" IN MY ROOM ANYTHING I CAN GET IN "PINK" I HAVE IT!!
